The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) announced for 2027 the embassy-recommended National Scholarship for Foreign Students, open to undergraduate, national university and technical college students and to specialized school students. The scholarship provides tuition exemption, a monthly stipend of 117,000 yen and travel support, with possible regional supplements. First screening is conducted at overseas posts, including document review, written tests and interviews; second-round selection is by MOE with results notified through overseas posts from February 2027 onward.
