The Iizaka Rotary Club in Fukushima City held the 32nd International Exchange Festival The Matsuri in Iizaka on Oct. 4 to mark the Iizaka Kenka Festival. About 60 participants, including foreign students from Fukushima University, staff from Fukushima United FC, and people from 15 countries, carried the international mikoshi through the hot spring town, wearing matching happi coats and shouting 'wasshoi'. Afterwards Yoshikawaya hosted a gathering with hot springs and meals. A 22-year-old Taiwan-born Fukushima University student said the mikoshi was heavy but fun, and he loves Japan's nature and shrine atmosphere.
