At Ryoma Design & Beauty College in Kochi, 14 international students who joined the Japanese language department in October attended an entrance ceremony on November 18. The newcomers come from five countries including Myanmar and Nepal, bringing the department's total to 11 countries and 121 students. Representing the new students, Myanmar's Town Nyang said she was drawn to Japanese by anime and dramas and hopes to become a bridge between Japan and the world through international trade. After the ceremony, current students performed songs and dances from their respective countries to welcome the newcomers. The 14 enrollees will study Japanese language and culture, as well as Kochi history, through March 2027.
