According to the Kochi Labour Bureau, the number of foreign workers in Kochi Prefecture reached 5,916 as of the end of October 2025, up 623 from the previous year and the highest since reporting became mandatory in 2007; the number of workplaces employing foreign workers rose by 116 to 1,332. By industry, Agriculture/Forestry/Fishery had the most workers at 1,241, followed by Manufacturing with 1,119 and Wholesale/Retail with 1,110. By nationality, Vietnam accounted for 2,003, Indonesia 1,355, and the Philippines 812. By status of residence, Technical Intern Trainees numbered 2,920 (49.4%), while Professional/Technical fields totaled 1,841, up 430 year-on-year, including 1,306 Specified Skilled Workers, with notable growth in the medical and welfare sectors.
