As of the end of October 2025, the number of foreign workers employed at workplaces in Fukushima Prefecture rose to over 15,000, reaching a record 15,079 and up about 10% from the previous year. By nationality, Vietnamese accounted for more than one third, the largest group, followed by Filipinos and Indonesians; by visa status, technical intern trainees make up about 40%, and the Fukushima Labour Bureau says reliance on foreign talent is rising in fields facing shortages such as medical care and welfare.
